There is no MBA program for the contractor trying to figure out how to price a job properly. There is no peer group for the subcontractor trying to stop getting buried by general contractors who know the contract law better than they do.
We built this because we got tired of watching good builders fail for reasons that were completely preventable. Bad hiring decisions. Underpriced work. Scaling too fast without the infrastructure to support it. Every one of those failures had a solution — it just required talking to someone who had already been through it.
That is what The Honest Builder is. The room where those conversations happen.
The Honest Builder was founded by Kevin Hohe, a specialty contractor who built a fencing company from nothing to over $100 million in revenue and nearly lost everything in the process. What Kevin learned along the way is that the construction industry doesn't have a shortage of hard workers. It has a shortage of honest information. The people who have figured it out don't share it. The people who haven't are left making the same expensive mistakes alone.
The Honest Builder exists to fix that. It is a peer accountability community where specialty contractors at every stage of growth get access to the real operational experience of people who have actually been there — not coaches who have read about it, not consultants who have never run a field crew. Builders who have done it and want to make sure the next generation doesn't have to learn it the hard way.
